This summer we're launching our very own community clean up week called The Big Green Summer Clean. It’s a week of action that’s helping to transform local spaces in the communities residents call home.

From Monday 4 July to Friday 8 July customers, volunteers, staff and partner organisations will visit Malcolm Court, Felbrook Court, Stirling Close, Bishop Court and Ruxley Court to help transform the spaces in and around the schemes.

The teams will remove rubbish, debris and fly tipping and improve the green spaces by gardening and installing new flower beds.

Ian Williams will be providing the and painting materials to give the community room at Bishop Court a make-over. Once finished it will be a space the community can come together for arts and crafts, social activities and more.

Unitas who are an award-winning maintenance and repairs contractor for Stoke Local Authority are kindly donating black bags and litter pickers for the event and are helping to collect and dispose of some of the litter and rubbish volunteers collect.

We're launching the community action week in Abbey Hulton to make sure we're present in neighbourhoods following and reduction in site visits during the pandemic, as Housing Manager Laura Dalton (pictured below) explains: Laura standing next to the Honeycomb Group sign

“We want to be out and about supporting our communities and getting involved in improving the appearance of our neighbourhoods.

“We are also partnering with local school, New Friars to complete some planting with the children at the school. We are grateful to Steven Catchick from the school for allowing us to get involved!

“At Staffs Housing we’re always looking for ways to support our communities. When this challenge presented itself we wanted to get stuck in to help make a difference to the people that live at our schemes and the wider community too.”

The project is not only helping to improve the community but will help to bring people together too.

“Staffs Housing staff, residents and partner organisations will be volunteering to complete the community work throughout the week. This means we’ll be able to cover more ground and make a bigger impact.”
