Our amazing volunteers help make our work possible
Date: 04/06/2021Our volunteers help to make the work we do to provide quality affordable homes possible. As a not-for-profit organisation without their help, we wouldn't be able to offer some of our services that are a lifeline to so many residents.
We wanted to celebrate all of our amazing volunteers by sharing some of their stories. We spoke to volunteers from Bradeley Village who gladly offer up their spare time to help out and here's what they had to say:
Lynn - Volunteer Shop Manager
I love volunteering. It's so good to know that we're providing a much-needed service for vulnerable people, especially throughout Covid-19. It's been a lifeline for those people that couldn't go out because they were shielding. I'm so proud of myself and the other shop volunteers for continuing to help out during these difficult times. We've always been safe, following risk assessments and wearing the appropriate PPE. Without the team doing their bit we couldn't have provided the service, we've all pulled together. That's what you call great teamwork!
Linda - Volunteer Shop Worker
The best thing about volunteering is the fact that I support residents, whilst also keeping myself busy and being able to contribute to village life. Throughout the pandemic, I've been taking shop orders over the phone and helping those who we're shielding from Covid-19 and couldn't get out. I've missed seeing people face to face but we'll be back to normal in no time!
Mick - Volunteer Shop Worker
The best thing about volunteering in the village shop during the pandemic has been providing a service to people when they needed it most. We've helped to keep people safe and on top of that it's helped me feel like I've done my bit, being useful.
Sheila - Volunteer Shop Worker
I really enjoy helping other residents when I volunteer at the village. I live alone and so it's given me the chance to get out of my flat and stop me from feeling isolated and alone. I love it because I get to speak to so many different people.
