Fixing the housing crisis for good!

Date: 25/11/2019

This week we are supporting the National Housing Federation's ‘Fix the housing crisis for good’ campaign.

The campaign is calling for housing associations to work alongside local MPs to make sure social housing is a priority at the next general election.

We’ve invited local MPs to meet with us to discuss how we can ‘fix’ the housing crisis by building new social housing, making sure everyone can feel safe in their home and investing in places to bring the country together. We also want to help deliver a new deal for social housing with residents at the heart as well as developing a fair and effective support and welfare system.

Housing is one of the most pressing domestic political issues and something we’re incredibly passionate about here so we really look forward to replies from our local MPs.

Staffs Housing Chief Executive Di Thompson believes we must get behind the NHF campaign, she says: " We need to make sure the right level of investment is available to build the homes needed to end the crisis. We need social and affordable housing and not just home ownership."

Here at Staffs Housing we've been investing across the local area. We've regenerated the previous Florence Primary school in Blurton, the Swallows Nest pub in Newstead and have just announced a large extension at our extra care living scheme Rowan Village. We've also been providing shared ownership homes in Crewe and Sandbach, an affordable housing initiative which allows customers to buy a share of a new home and 'rent' the rest until they can buy the remaining shares. You can find out more about shared ownership here
