Celebrating time to talk day with our customer service team

Date: 04/02/2021

We’re here to help break down the barriers that keep people from a good home. We have our customers best interest at the heart of everything we do and give people the tools they need to maintain a happy home they’re proud of. We do more than just provide houses we create homes where people can truly feel their best.

Today is time to talk day, a national day dedicated to getting people talking openly about mental health and their personal struggles. It hopes to help those suffering and to remove negative stigmas attached to mental health. We’ve been creating time to talk during the COVID19 outbreak by calling customers over the last 12 months. We’ve spoken to thousands of tenants over the phone, just checking in and making sure they’re coping during these uncertain times.

Customer Service Advisor, Janet Howell had been speaking to customer *Dennis who was struggling with lockdown after the death of his mother. He felt alone as he was unable to see his wife and felt like he had no one to talk to.

Janet explains: “Dennis was really struggling after the death of his mum, he hadn’t been able to see his wife in a long time because of Covid restrictions and felt isolated and lonely with no one to talk to. So, when I called just to ask how he was getting on he was really grateful and felt able to confide in me.

As a team we made sure to regularly check on Dennis and he was really grateful and said he wouldn’t have been able to get through this really difficult time without the calls.

It just goes to show that you never know what goes on behind closed doors and in other people’s lives, so by taking that time to check in on the people around you can really make all the difference. It’s true what they say, a problem shared really is a problem halved!”

Wave goodbye to negative stigmas, if you’re struggling with your mental health or the current situation, we’re here for you call us on 01782 744533 or email us on hello@staffshousing.org.uk
