At Staffs Housing, we believe the best way to improve our homes is by listening to the people who know them best, our customers. That’s why our void inspections play such an important role in making sure every home is ready, safe, and welcoming before it’s re-let.
A void inspector is one of our involved customers who volunteers their time to visit empty properties and highlight anything that may need attention before a new tenant moves in. It’s a simple idea, but one that makes a big difference. By bringing real customer insight into the process, we can ensure our homes meet the standards people expect and deserve.
This month, we carried out two void inspections at St Johns Court in Biddulph and Paragon Court in Longton. These visits were supported by our Voids Specialist, Helen, who leads on ensuring homes are re-let quickly and to a high standard, and our Customer Voice Specialist, Jayne, who was there to guide and support customers taking part.
It was fantastic to see customers actively involved in shaping our homes. We were also pleased to welcome two new customers, Bev and Barbara, who joined us to see what the role is all about. Their fresh perspectives and enthusiasm were a great addition, and it’s always encouraging to see more people interested in getting involved.
These inspections are more than just a checklist, they’re about making sure every detail is considered from a customer point of view. From spotting repairs to thinking about the overall feel of a home, this feedback helps us create spaces that people can truly feel proud to live in.
Jayne shared her thoughts on the day: “It’s always great to see customers getting involved and sharing their views so openly. They bring a level of insight that you simply can’t replicate, because they live in our homes and use our services every day. Seeing new customers like Bev and Barbara come along and get a feel for the role is really positive, and it shows how much interest there is in helping shape our homes for the future.”
We’re proud of the difference our involved customers are making. By working together, we’re not only improving individual properties, we’re raising standards across all our homes.
