Who fixes it? Understanding your repair responsibilities

Who Fixes It

As a tenant, knowing and understanding your responsibilities when it comes to property maintenance and repairs is crucial to making sure you stay safe, comfortable, and living in a well-functioning home.

Whether it’s a leaky tap, a broken window, or a malfunctioning appliance, it can sometimes be unclear as to who is responsible for the repair: you as a tenant or us as your landlord?

To help you better understand who is responsible for what, we’ve launched our ‘Who Fixes It’ campaign – a fun and interactive way for you to learn about your repair responsibilities. The campaign provides clear, straightforward answers to common repair questions and highlights the areas where you’re responsible to take action.

This month we’ll be sharing the campaign on our Facebook page, so be sure to give us a follow! Find us by searching Staffs Housing, or by clicking here.

Why is this important?

Living in a rental property means you should know and understand your rights and responsibilities. It’s important to keep you safe, but to know in advance in preparation for when things go wrong. Knowing whether a repair falls under your responsibility or ours helps to reduce confusion, save time, and ensures your home is kept safe and maintained.

What if you need a repair?

If you come across an issue that you’re unsure about, or if you discover an issue that we’re responsible for repairing, please get in touch.

When reporting a repair, be sure to provide as much detail as possible including the location of the issue. You could also share a photo of the issue to help us address it promptly.
