At Staffs Housing, putting customers at the heart of everything we do isn’t just a promise—it’s how we work. That’s why today’s follow-up Void Inspection at West End Village was more than a routine check—it was a collaborative effort with our customer void inspectors to make sure the home is not just ready, but right for future tenants.
Earlier this month, our customers visited the property and shared valuable feedback on what needed improving. Today, they returned to see whether those concerns had been addressed—and to help us spot anything new before the property is let.
We’re pleased to say the home had come a long way. With fresh decoration and most of the original concerns resolved, it was clear progress had been made. But our customers, using their inspection checklist and keen attention to detail, picked up on a few remaining issues:
- Anti-vibration mats were still missing under the washers and dryers—essential to reduce noise for neighbouring homes.
- Electrical work in one of the bedrooms hadn’t been completed.
- A loose door handle and issues with the newly laid flooring were also flagged as new concerns.
These issues have now been passed to Helen, our dedicated Void Specialist, who will work with our contractor to ensure they’re fully resolved. Before the home is re-let, we’ll require evidence that all work has been completed to our high standards.
Customer inspector Cheryl shared her thoughts on the process:
“It’s great to come back and see what work has been done. On the surface, it looks like a really great blank canvas. Then with the help of our inspection checklist, it’s helped us to identify further works still outstanding. It’s nice to know that the time we’re spending here is making a difference.”
