A Day in the Life of an Activities Coordinator

Katie Morris

Ever wondered what an Activities Coordinator actually does? We thought we’d give you a little peek behind the scenes by introducing Katie, one of our Activities Coordinators.

Katie is based at Bradeley Village, but the work she does is a great example of the kind of support and activities we aim to offer across all our communities. And if you ask Katie, she’ll tell you straight away — there’s no such thing as a “typical” day!

Most mornings start with phone calls and emails, chatting with residents, answering questions, and making sure people feel listened to and supported. Katie also helps out with day-to-day admin, meetings, and anything else that helps things run smoothly behind the scenes.

A big part of Katie’s role is all about creating opportunities for residents. She organises pop-up stalls and events and works closely with friendly external services like energy advisors, the Fire Service, and Citizens Advice, bringing helpful, free support right to people’s doorsteps.

Katie also makes sure everyone knows what’s going on. She keeps noticeboards up to date and works alongside residents who have ideas of their own — helping turn those ideas into reality, whether that’s designing a leaflet, getting in touch with an organisation, or figuring out how something could work.

Helping people stay connected is really important too. That’s why Katie runs digital drop-ins, where residents can get a hand with mobile phones, tablets, and other tech — no question is too small, and there’s always a friendly face on hand.

Even when you don’t see her, Katie’s busy behind the scenes, hunting down new ideas, free activities, and partnerships that could make a real difference for residents.

If you spot Katie (or any of our Activities Coordinators) around your scheme or community, please say hello! And if you’ve got an idea for an activity you’d love to see where you live, we’d really love to hear it.
