How we use your data

We are required by law to protect the public funds we administer. In order to prevent and detect fraud, we may share information with other organisations who audit or adminster public funds.

National Fraud Initiative

The Audit Commission requires us to participate in ‘data matching’ exercises, and this requires us to provide sets of data. These sets are detailed in the Audit Commission’s guidance, which you can find at

The use of data by the Audit Commission in a data matching exercise is carried out with statutory authority under its powers in Part 2A of the Audit Commission Act 1998. It does not require the consent of the individuals concerned under the Data Protection Act 1998.

Other data matching

Staffordshire Housing may also conduct its own data matching initiatives to detect and prevent fraud, or in connection with legal proceedings. This can include cross-references with records held internally or by credit reference agencies, local authorities, other housing associations, government departments and other enforcement agencies.
