Planning improvements to your homes and communities

Steve Wright

We’re always working behind the scenes to plan improvements that help keep your home safe, comfortable, and fit for the future.

Senior Property Surveyor Steve shares how his team plans and delivers improvement works across our homes and schemes. These planned improvements include upgrades to windows, doors, kitchens, bathrooms, heating systems, and more—helping to ensure your home remains a quality and affordable place to live for the long term.

Listening to you and your home
Understanding how your home works for you is essential to planning the right improvements. One of the main ways we do this is by listening to your feedback and carrying out home surveys.

You may have recently completed, or been asked to complete, a survey. While it can sometimes feel inconvenient, it’s one of the most important ways you help shape future investment in your home and community.

Home surveys help us understand your experience of living in your home, check that key features such as heating, windows, and doors are working as they should, and identify where improvements may be needed now and in the future. This information is essential in making sure your home remains safe, comfortable, and well-maintained.

Once a survey is complete, we review the findings and identify any improvements needed. These are then planned into our improvement programme, whether that’s a new heating system, upgraded windows or doors, or other essential work.

Your feedback helps us prioritise the right improvements, at the right time.

What’s happening now?
We’re pleased to share some of the improvement work currently underway or planned. We’re working with a new kitchen and bathroom supplier and are already replacing kitchens across several schemes. If your home is due for a kitchen or bathroom upgrade, we’ll contact you directly to arrange this.

Our window replacement programme is also progressing well, with works at Wood Street in Longton now complete. Hazelwood Close, Rookery Court, and Unwin Terrace are next on the list. Alongside this, window and door replacements are taking place at Brookside Court, Ruskin Close, and Grange Lane as part of our decency works programme.

We’ve also been progressing our external door replacement programme, with works already completed at Holland Street and Bluebell Close, and Castle Keep Court planned next. Through our fire door replacement programme, works at Oliver Lodge are now complete, and we’d like to thank you for your feedback. You told us the newer, brighter doors have improved both safety and the overall look and feel of communal areas.

Looking ahead
Alongside this work, we’re already planning our 2026–27 investment programme so we’re ready to continue delivering improvements in the new financial year.

Everything we do is focused on providing homes where you feel safe, listened to, and able to thrive. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and help shape the future of your home.
