At Staffs Housing, we’re proud to provide quality, affordable homes you can feel proud to live in, and this month, we’re celebrating a fantastic milestone: one year of our customer void inspectors.
A year of making a real difference
Since the first inspection in spring 2025 at West End Village, our customer void inspectors have been making a real and lasting impact.
What started with just five customers has grown into a passionate group of people who are helping shape the quality of our homes. By visiting empty properties before they are re-let, they play a key role in making sure every home is safe, welcoming and ready for someone new to move in.
Putting customers at the heart of quality
Our customer void inspectors bring something incredibly valuable, a genuine customer perspective. They walk through properties, complete inspection forms and share honest feedback on what’s working well and what could be improved.
This helps ensure homes are not just prepared, but truly ready for everyday living. It’s a great example of how customer involvement helps us maintain high standards and continuously improve.
A rewarding experience for everyone involved
Being part of the void inspection process has also been a positive experience for those taking part.
Wendy, vice chair of the customer assurance group and a dedicated void inspector, shared:
“I enjoy attending the voids inspections. It’s been interesting to go to different areas and ensure that standards are maintained. It’s helped me understand what happens when a property becomes empty and the work that goes into making it ready for a new customer.”
Feedback like this highlights how the programme not only improves our homes, but also gives customers a valuable insight into the work behind the scenes.
A growing and committed group
Over the past year, the group has continued to evolve. While we’ve said goodbye to some members, we’ve also welcomed new inspectors who bring fresh ideas, enthusiasm and a shared commitment to getting things right.
There is a real sense of pride among the group, with everyone focused on making sure new customers move into homes they can feel comfortable and confident in from day one.
