We're investing to create homes that help you to thrive
Date: 29/07/2024
This month our NEW Compliance and Health & Safety Manager Steph joins the Group and will be responsible for making sure your homes and schemes are safe and compliant.
After a 16-year career working for HM Prison and Probation Service, initially as a teacher, Steph moved into health and safety.
She has over eight years of experience in the industry working as Health, Safety, and Fire Safety Specialist in male, female, and young offending prisons. Until going to work for a specialist fire protection company where she helped to keep some of the countries most renowned locations like The National Gallery, Great Ormond Street Hospital, and Hinkley Point Nuclear Power Station safe.
As a local-girl Steph is now passionate to be closer to home and support the local communities she grew up around.
In her new role, she’ll work as part of our Property Team to make sure our homes remain safe for you and your families.
Since joining the Group, she’s been getting stuck in and has already visited some of our homes and schemes.
Steph said: “I’m so excited to have joined Honeycomb Group to use my skills and experience to keep people safe at home.”
“I’ve got over eight years of experience working in health, fire, and compliance safety. I’ve worked on some huge and exciting projects and through team working, problem solving and raising awareness I have overcome a lot of challenges that I know I’ll be able to use in my new role.
“I also have a real passion for supporting others and making a difference. It’s one of the many reasons for joining Honeycomb Group, because their values and mission really align with my own.
“I’m keen to get stuck in and make sure our repairs, maintenance, health, safety, compliance, and fire systems all work as they should, and that staff and customers all understand their roles in making sure our homes and communities remain safe.
“With the support of the Property Team and other staff from across the Group I’m here to keep customers safe by making sure any of our homes and buildings comply with best practices, laws and industry guidance too.”
“I’ve already been out to visit some of your schemes and communities, so if you see me in your home, don’t forget to stop and say hello!”
Head of Property Kathryn Ing said: “We’re really pleased to have Steph join our Property Team.”
“Steph’s worked on a wide range of building types all with their own complexities, so I’m confident that she’ll be able to excel in this role.
“At Staffs Housing and the wider Honeycomb Group our priority will always be resident safety.
“In recent years, there has been unprecedented focus on health and safety, and fire safety. With the recent launch of our five-year corporate plan, thriving futures, we’re continuing this focus, by creating homes that help people to thrive.
“Put simply it means we’re working to ensure our homes are quality, affordable, economical, safe to run, and ultimately spaces people can feel proud of.
“The introduction of Steph’s role is part of that focus and should reassure our residents that we take their safety very seriously.”
