Case Study 1 Eco terraces We carried out an award winning project which remodelled several disused terraced properties in Chesterton, Newcastle under Lyme, into modern family homes with excellent eco features. The project was designed to test how well these traditional energy-inefficient properties could be made energy efficient, and how easy it would be for the project to be replicated elsewhere.All homes achieved ‘eco excellent’ standard and won a Building Magazine award as well as being nominated for Inside Housing and the Chartered Institute of Housing awards. Case Study 2 FITs in Reality During the summer of 2011 we installed solar photovoltaic panels to around 200 of our homes, giving our customers cheaper electricity bills by £70 – £100 each year and enabling us to take up the the feed-in tariff opportunities. The project was a great success and we are now fitting the panels to more homes.Following the first phase we got together with partners Axis Design to deliver a ‘FITs in Reality’ workshop for other organisations thinking of doing similar projects themselves.
