Homes to buy

If you want to buy your own home, Staffordshire Housing has several ways to help you.

Homes to buyShared ownership
Shared ownership is a part-rent part-buy way of owning your own home. Typically, you buy a 50% share of a home, while Staffordshire Housing Association (SHA) owns the other 50%.  You pay rent to SHA on their 50% share, plus a service charge to cover insurance and management fees. Most people buy their share by taking out a mortgage. If you wish, you can buy more shares in your home later, and you can keep on buying shares until eventually you own your home outright. Homes for outright sale
Sometimes we offer homes for outright leasehold sale, where you buy 100% of your home on a lease. If these homes are within schemes or older people’s villages, you will need to pay a weekly charge for any services and amenities.

Right to Buy and Right to Acquire
If you are an existing Staffordshire Housing tenant, you may qualify to buy your home at a discount under the Right to Buy or Right to Acquire schemes. Click here to download more information on Right to Buy and Right to Acquire
